Santa brought me a telephoto lens for Christmas and it’s finally stopped raining enough that I was able to try it out this morning. By giving the birds a little more distance, I hoping to be able to get them to settle down a little bit and thus minimize the shots of incoming beaks or outgoing tail feathers. It may take a little while for Gwen and Stephen to get back to the point that they ignore me when I’m in the enclosure after the Great Capillaria Wars of 2015, so they did a fair amount of flying around.

As a first effort, however, I did manage to get a few shots showing the physical manifestations of Gwen’s transition from monitoring her environment to full complaint mode, a process that takes place with great efficiency.
