I need boilerplate language that I can automatically insert into posts to the effect that crows are smart, will always outsmart people, love being a nuisance, will always play tricks, blah, blah, yada, yada, etc. etc.

In spite of my best efforts, NestCam 2018 appears to have a panoramic view of the part of the nest where the eggs are not.

In spite of no visual confirmation, I am making the Official 2018 Egg Call for the following reasons:

  • Gwen is hanging out in the nest for long periods;
  • Periodically she noodles around with her beak in an area of the next just out of camera range;
  • Stephen brings her food;
  • They both go berserk when an ant inhales too close to the back area.

All of this is consistent with incubation: spending long periods keeping the eggs warm, shifting them every 15 minutes or so to make sure that the chick does not get stuck to the inside of the shell, allofeeding, and hyper-sensitivity to anything that in some alternate universe might be a threat.

My last bit of evidence are these shots of Gwen and Stephen looking into the nest at something. They certainly have never examined anything that I’ve given them as intently. Besides, we all want eggs and chicks. So let it be written (check), so let it be done.
